The challenge

Liberty Global asked Copijn Groenaanleg en Beheer landscaping services company to collaborate with them for an overhaul of the office complex at the Schiphol-Rijk industrial premises. Liberty Global was faced with the choice of either building a new head office and therefore having to move, or instead completely renovating the inside of the four existing buildings. It was ultimately decided to do the latter. Copijn consulted with HB Watertechnologie about the irrigation system.

Our approach

It is important to Liberty Global that its personnel are able to work in a pleasant and warm work environment. Despite the retention of the site at Schiphol-Rijk, it was important that everyone would be able to feel good about going to work. Liberty Global wanted to also create homely and inspiring spaces. The renovation of the different buildings was carried out in phases, over a total period of two years. It resulted in a lot of specific work and customisation at the sites. In part because of this, the irrigation system was designed and implemented in a decentralised way; its operation and monitoring, however, are carried out completely online.

The result

Copijn made important contributions to the new entrance, the atrium, the restaurant, the greenhouse and the different workspaces. This varies from a small planter, up to a 65-m2 Copijn Wonderwall (green wall) inside the restaurant. Finally, a new 150-m2 greenhouse was constructed on the parking deck, where people can have a casual lunch or have a meeting under the green canopy of climbing plants. HB Watertechnologie facilitated an irrigation system for all the building greenery.
