The challenge
In a prominent ‘view’ location near the city of Nijkerk, Pleijsier Bouw and Borghese Real Estate collaborated to build an office building of the future. With an intention of garnering both the BREEAM Outstanding as well as the WELL Gold certification, ambitions were high. The 180-m² green SemperGreenwalls, which are featured both inside and outside the building, play an important role towards that end and also give a sustainable appearance. HB Watertechnologie designed and implemented the irrigation system.
Our approach
The dynamic and transparent building is characterised by a playful flowing of lines with dynamic traverses. The Indoor SemperGreenwall by the main entrance covers 72 m² and is a real eye-catcher that literally brings nature indoors. Upon entering, one is met with a natural and vibrant ambiance, which also emphasizes the building’s sustainability. The irrigation method specified by HB Watertechnologie consists of the latest technology in the area of integrated nutrient feeding systems and remotely controllable measuring and regulation methods – the iMC Box.
The result
The prominent office building is one of the first buildings in The Netherlands to have the ambition of garnering WELL Gold certification. WELL is the internationally acknowledged certification for healthy buildings based on the performances of the building. Attention is paid primarily to the satisfaction of the building’s users. An improved working climate directly positively affects performance. Important points of consideration include clean indoor air and a comfortable work environment. The erected indoor SemperGreenwalls contribute to this goal significantly. All the SemperGreenwalls used are equipped with an iMC Box. This web-based irrigation system facilitates the supply of appropriate volumes of water and nutrients to the plants. It also allows the green façades to be remotely monitored and controlled, so that the walls are guaranteed to stay green throughout the year. The 115-m² Outdoor SemperGreenwall also includes frost protection for the cold winter months.
